EA announced on Tuesday that Star Wars Jedi: Survivor , the sequel to Fallen Order , has been delayed by six weeks and will hit the public on April 28. With this, the game will be released in the next fiscal year. In a statement published on the company’s social networks, director Stig Asmussen explained that the postponement was necessary to deliver a more polished version to fans, as well as eliminate bugs.

“Over the past three years, the Jedi team here at Respawn has poured their heart and soul into Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, and we are proud to say that the next chapter in the Cal Kestis story is complete. Now, we are focused entirely on the final stage: bug fixes to improve performance, stability, polish, and most importantly, the player experience.

Jedi: Survivor is a direct response to feedback from our community, delivering expanded destinations for exploration, evolved combat and traversal, and of course, the continuation of Cal and BD’s story. Making this game has really made us a better team, and we’ve strived on every level to make this the Star Wars sequel our fans have come to expect from Respawn and Lucasfilm Games.

In order for the team to reach Respawn’s level of quality, we’ve added a crucial six weeks to our release schedule to give the team the time it needs to reach the level of polish our fans deserve –Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will now launch globally in April 28th.

Thanks to EA and Respawn for taking the time to provide the best experience for our players, and to all of you for your understanding.”

Vince Zampella, the CEO of Respawn Entertainment and Group GM, also released a statement, saying that Respawn is “dedicated to making games that are fun to play”.

“We are proud of the game this team has created and being able to give them more time ensures that on April 28th we will deliver another great Star Wars experience for our players,” said Zampella.

Announced in May 2022, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is the sequel to Fallen Order, a game that has attracted over 20 million players across multiple releases. Featuring Cal Kestis as a Jedi fleeing the Purge, the first game in the saga won praise for its excellent combat and strong story, but was criticized for its lack of polish.
